Pending weather conditions, ESL Test Prep Night has been rescheduled to December 9th at 5:00pm. There will be raffles and dinner.
Winter Spirit Week is coming up from December 8–12, and each day brings a creative way for students to show their school spirit:
Monday – Merry & Bright Day: Wear festive headgear and accessories to add a little sparkle to the day.
Tuesday – Winter Wonderland Day: Dress in white, blue, silver, or snowflake-themed outfits to bring the winter magic.
Wednesday – Grinch Day: Celebrate with your best Grinch green and fun Grinch-inspired hair.
Thursday – Gingerbread Day: Wear shades of brown with splashes of holiday candy colors like red, white, or green.
Friday – Pajama Day: End the week in comfort with your favorite cozy pajamas.

Unity Day is a powerful reminder that schools across the nation stand together to promote kindness, inclusion, and safety for all students. It’s a time to take a stand against bullying and show that everyone deserves to feel respected, valued, and supported at school.
At Oak Grove, we’re proud to be upstanders! Let’s show our unity by wearing orange tomorrow—the official color of Unity Day. Whether it’s a shirt, a ribbon, a bracelet, or something you’ve created yourself, anything orange will show your support for a safe and caring school community.

Our International Fall Festival was amazing!! Thank you to our co-chairs: AIG Teacher, Ms. Agosto and PTA board member, Ms. Streater, as well as several parents, teachers and volunteers: Ms. Rueda, Ms. Leticia, Ms. Ashley, Mr. Steve, and Ms. Betty, just to name a few. The performances were beautiful! Thank you for sharing your afternoon with us.
Our 2nd Annual International Fall Festival is on Saturday September 13th. This event will celebrate our diverse community and showcase unique culture, food, traditions and help us kick off Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 - October 15).
Please Join us tomorrow for performances. Food trucks and concessions will be available for purchase. There will also be games and activities as you learn more about each culture.

Save the date for our first quarter Family Breakfast. This is a BYOBreakfast event. It’s a great time for families to spend time with their child while eating breakfast in the cafeteria. Families can either bring their own breakfast or purchase breakfast from the cafeteria for
$2.50.
PTA will be on site. You can connect, network and grab a treat for you and your child. Yearly dues are $7 for families interested in membership.

🎒 Fill That Bus! Fuel the Year – Starts Today! 🚍
Durham, let’s kick off the school year right! The annual “Fill That Bus! Fuel the Year” school supply drive begins today, running through August 8. Our good friends at the DPS Foundation will be leading the effort in restocking the shelves at Crayons2Calculators so every DPS teacher has the tools needed—completely free—for student success 📝📚
What’s happening:
Community-wide efforts to gather essential supplies—pencils, notebooks, art tools, rulers, folders, tissue, and more.
Drop-off bins are set up around the city (libraries, churches, businesses) and at Crayons2Calculators warehouse, 808 Bacon St., open Tuesdays & Thursdays, 11 am–3 pm.
Prefer to support digitally? Financial donations help purchase high-need items efficiently.
Why it matters:
Last year, Crayons2Calculators distributed over $129,000 in supplies, supporting 96% of DPS teachers at 59 schools—and many teachers still spend hundreds out-of-pocket.
