Bus Expectations

Dear Parents,
Welcome back to the 2008-2009 school year. We are excited to have all of our students back and look forward to having a great year. Because safety is very important, I want to make sure that we are all on the same page in regards to student bus conduct.
It is my job to make sur ethat each child is provided with a safe bus ride to and from school each day. In order to do this, I need your help. Below is a list of district guidelines that all students must adhere to.
Failure to follow these guidelines will result in a bus referral being submitted to administration. A bus referral will only be writen after a child has been warned about engaging in certain behavior. Fighting is the only offense for which a warning will not be given.
A student will be allowed two bus referrals by their bus driver before bus riding privileges are revoked. All referrals will be sent home by the child and should be returned to school the next day signed by a parent. Please refer to the chart below to better understand referrals and their consequences.

*Parents will be notified of all referrals via phone call or form home.
Please know that it is not my desire that any of our students lose their bus privileges for any length of time. However, bus safety is my first responsibility. Please encourage your child to follow his/her bus procedures so that all students can be safe.
In the spirit of celebrating our students' success, I will be implementing something new this year. We will have a "Bus of the Month." The bus that has the least number of bus referrals each month will be named "Bus of the Month." Each student who rides this bus will be given a special surprise. There will even be a little something special for the bus driver. It is my hope that every one of our buses will be "Bus of the Month" each month. I am hopeful that this incentive will help our students rise to the challenge and exemplify exceptional bus conduct. I am confident that they can do it.
Please talk with your child about the importance of doing their part to ensure a safe ride to and from school each day. Together we can do anything!

Sincerely,

Aisha Howard
